Vintage Silk Top Hat by A.J.White Ltd - Sold
The inside of the hatband of this hat measures 57cm , that is size 7 in UK hat sizes or 7⅛ in the USA
The hat is covered in black silk plush, which is in generally good condition. It has rubbed in a few places around the rim of the crown (see images).
The black fabric on the underside of the brim is worn in places but could be replaced
There is a stud and a ring in the brim at the back of the hat - this was for the attachment of a cord so that the hat would not be lost out hunting.
Inside the hat is lined in cream silk, it is stamped "Extra Quality, A.J.White Ltd., Hatter & Cap Maker, 74 Jermyn St, St.James".
It has a tan silk and leather hatband, with a drawstring
This hat could be worn as it is for hunting, driving or sidesaddle classes etc, or it could be fully restored for formal wear.
