Ladies Saddle Canteen by James Dixon & Sons

This canteen has a good quality tan coloured leather case. The stitching is very fine and the buckles are steel - this is an early canteen, made before stainless steel buckles were in common use.

It is unlined and has an internal partition.

Inside there is a small silver plated flask, with a plated bayonet or captured cap. The neck is stamped "J.D & S." (James Dixon & Sons). There is also a double hinged sandwich tin, stamped inside "J.D &S", "EPBM" & with the trumpet and banner symbol of James Dixon & Sons. There is a little pitting on the inside of the sandwich tin.
Overall a really nice small canteen showing very few signs of use.

Dimensions 5" (15cm) x 4" (10cm) x 1½" (3.8cm)
