A Steel Military Liverpool Driving Bit - Sold

This antique driving bit is made of burnished steel.
It has a straight bar mouth which is reversible or half-twisted. The mouthpiece is stamped "J.H" and has a broad ordnance arrow, indicating military use.
The turning cheeks have two rein slots for the attachment of the curb rein.
One cheek is stamped "Smith" and the other "Shrewsbury", V.C.Smith was a saddler with a shop next to The Raven public house in Shrewsbury at the beginning of the 20th century.
The cheeks are slightly bent (see images)
The bit still has its original curb hooks and graduated curb chain.
