This bit was handforged in steel, the lamellar lines from its manufacture can still be seen.
It has a jointed mouthpiece.
There is a steel pulley attached to each bit ring - this would connect the reins directly to the cheek and headpieces of the bridle, causing the bit to be pulled up in the horse's mouth and putting pressure on the poll.
It has some light surface rust which could be burnished off.
There are no maker's marks or stamps.
