Edwardian Horseshoe Tray with Stirrup Handles

This is a horseshoe shaped mahogany tray
It has a raised edge carved to resemble a horseshoe complete with brass studs for nails (four on one side and three on the other)

The handles are brass & cast as stirrups, they could be polished. There are a few scratches and one gouge in the wood of the tray

Such trays were used to serve stirrup cups before a hunt, here's an excerpt from Susan K. Moore's book of reminiscences of Fillongley Hall ("I Remember Strawberries & Sewage")
"The late Lord Norton gave me a tray that the butler always served the drinks on when the hunt met at Fillongley Hall. It's in the shape of a horseshoe in ebony and walnut and at the side there are stirrups for handles"

Dimensions : 20" (50cm) total length, 18¼" (46.5cm) total width, 1¼" (3cm) depth
