Gilt Dress Spur with Bird Head

This is a single gilded spur. I believe it is French
Its rowel is supported by a bird's head and neck - possibly a phoenix or an eagle ?.
The heel bands have cast decoration in the form of wings.
The inside of the heel band has a pin which would fit into the heel of an officer's boot.
There are tabs or spurs at end of each arm of the heel band which would wrap around the heel of a boot.
There are no maker's marks or stamps.
The spur is in very good condition.

Internal width 5.4cm (approx 2"), neck 4cm (1½")
Weight : 65g (2¼oz)

Ref : spur496
