I wrote a short blog (here) about these manger balls / chogs a while ago.
They are variously known as chogs, sliders, manger balls, manger logs and tying up bobbins.
They were traditionally used to weight a rope that passed through a ring or slot in a manger and attached to the halter or headcollar, thus allowing the horse to move but preventing the rope from looping dangerously.
This example is turned from a single pice of two-coloured heavy wood (lignum vitae)
It has a good aged patina with a few scratches and gouges from use
Dimensions : Height 3¾" (9.5cm), Diameter 3½" (9cm)
Weight 664g (1lb 7½oz)
Ref : Bobbin3

I will charge actual shipping costs (usually Special Delivery with insurance), with no additional handling fees. I have quoted the cost for the UK - please email me for other destinations. I am happy to combine shipping costs if more than one item is bought.
I am quite happy to refund payment (minus shipping costs) if you are not happy with an item for any reason & contact me (promptly please) & return it. If I've described it inaccurately, I'll refund the shipping cost as well. If there has been damage in transit, please keep the item and the packaging until we have sorted out the insurance.
