has a decorated silver finial & collar hallmarked Birmingham 1868.
The handle is covered in finely braided whalebone or balleen.
The cap still has its silver ring for the attachment of a wrist strap.
The collar is engraved with a monogram which I cannot read.
Perhaps unsurprisingly in a 150 year old whip there is a little wear just below the collar (please see images).
The actual shaft or stock is covered in braided material , it is in good condition, tapering to a point, with a replacement silk lash.
Length 31" (79cm)
Weight 1oz (28g)
