This whip has a handle made from a tusk (?hippo / or boar ?), there are some fine age cracks visible on the cut end of the tusk (see images). It has a gilded collar engraved "P.R. The collar is also stamped with the maker's mark "JH" in a diamond (J. Howell & Co., stick and cane makers).
The stock or shaft is gold coloured malacca cane. It has a good replacement stitched keeper.
