This whip has a staghorn or antler handle with a crown shaped "gatepusher" stud on top. It is stamped "Brigg" (the company later joined Swaine & Adeney)
It has a plain silver collar hallmarked London 1909. The collar is engraved "H.F., Leweston Manor, Sherborne. There are small dents in the underside of the silver collar, probably from opening gates.
The stock or shaft of the whip is made of segmented cane, which has been treated to give a golden brown-brown and black "clouded cane" effect. There is a 2.5cm ( 1 inch) bound area on the shaft, although no cracks are visible and there is no instability in it.
It has a replacemen t bridle leather keeper at its end and a braided thong in good condition.
