Small (36") Vintage Hunt Coat by C.R.Frost c.1930
This old red or scarlet hunt coat is made of heavyweight weight wool twill fabric.
There is a label in the inside pocket which reads "C.R.Frost & Son, 7 & 8 Bridge Street York", I have found an advert for this company of tailors in a history of the York & Ainsty Hunt published in 1930.
The coat has been well used.
It has lost its six front buttons and four cuff buttons.
The front and sleeves have various darks stains and there is a white mark on the left sleeve.
The stitching under both arms is coming undone.
The lower edges of the coat show wear all the way around, with some loose stiching, fraying and a few holes.
The upper lining is cream wool (with tears under the arms), the lower lining is red wool with a few old moth holes.

Base of collar to waist : 17¼ inches (44cm)
From shoulder seam to shoulder seam 16½ inches (42cm)
Chest (approx) 36" (91cm)
