View BasketThis canteen has a tan coloured leather case.
There are old water or drink stains on its front, there is also a small hole in the front and a black spot on thw front flap.
There is some insect damage to the seam on the left side of the canteen but the stitching is good.
The case originally had straps for attachment to a saddle, but these have been removed and a shoulder strap fitted.
It is lined in cream doeskin or chamois and has an internal partition.
Inside there is a rectangular flask, with a silver plated captured or hinged cap.
This is stamped "J.D.& S." on one side and has the trumpet and banner mark of Dixon & Sons on the other.
There is also a double hinged sandwich tin, stamped inside "EP, J.D. & S" and "916M".
