Vintage Hunt Evening Tails - Sold
An elegant red tailcoat in a medium weight wool twill fabric.
It is lined in cream silk.
In the inside pocket there is a cloth label that reads "Thomas & Sons (Tailors) Ltd.,5 Carlos Place, Grosvenor Square, London W".
There are no external pockets
On the front there are six plain flat brass buttons measuring 2cm or ¾ inch across. There are another two such buttons on the back.
Each cuff has three smaller (½ inch or 1.2cm) buttons.
The larger buttons are stamped on their reverse side "Buttons Limited" (a Birmingham company active until the mid-twentieth century).
This is coat is at least 70 years old and shows some wear :
The lining is torn at the top of the neck, presumably where it has been hung up carelessly.
There are holes in the lining of the back and around the armholes.
The lining of the tails is quite tattered.
There is a moth hole or burn that is ¼ inch wide in the left sleeve and a smaller hole in the collar at the back

Base of collar to waist : 18 inches (46cm)
From armpit seam to armpit seam 17¾ inches (45.2cm)
Chest (approx because not designed to fasten closed 38" (96.5cm)
