A 19th Century Wilson Twisted Snaffle with a W or Y mouth - Sold

This bit is made of steel with a dark aged patina.
It has two jointed mouthpieces, the joints are off-set so that when the bit is bent they form a "W" shape.
One mouthpiece is twisted, making it more severe
A ring passes through both mouthpieces at each end,
An inner pair of bit rings sits around the mouthpiece
The cheekpieces or headstall would attach to the inner rings.
The reins attach to the outer rings - which would create a more severe "nutcracker ( as if a narrow twisted mouthpiece with a W action were not severe enough ?).
One part of the mouth is stamped "Best Steel" and possibly "BC" or "LC".

Dimensions : mouthpiece 14cm (5½"), Rings 7.6cm (3")

Weight 536g (1lb 3 oz)
