A History of Hunting Costume by John Mortimer, illustrated by Frank Grey - Sold

This was a promotional booklet produced by Moss Bros .

The text was written by John Mortimer (famous for Rumpole of the Bailey) and the coloured illustrations were by Frank R. Grey (famous for the Jane Turpin books of the 1930's and 1940's)

It follows the development of hunting clothes and fashions from Norman times to the present day (well, the 1930's).
The "modern" section features the gloriously unbiased line "Dressed by Moss Bros. the rider of to-day can be certain that his clothes are right. Whether he's hunting with one of the well-known hunts or the local fox-hounds no one will critcize the cut of his coat or the shape of his boots". So that's all good then.
