This whip handle is carved from a single piece of golden coloured translucent horn The top is carved as a hoof and its shaft has nodules carved to resemble holly. There is a silver coloured metal section at the end of the whip with a loop for the attachment of a thong and lash. There is a small split on one edge of the metal fitting. There are no maker's marks or stamps.
