I bought these stirrups at a sale of items from the Althorp Estate (the Spencer family estate in Northamptonshire & the childhood home of Princess Diana).
They are a traditional English shape and made of steel.
The tread or footplate is oval and covered with a horsehair stuffed leather pad. There is a one inch split on one of the seams, but the overall condition is very good.
I am not sure of the purpose of this padding - is it comfort alone?
