This stirrup is not stamped or marked,
It is made of brass.
It probably dates from the late nineteenth or early twentieth Century .
The sides of the stirrup are triangular and cast with a foliate design.
The stirrup was made so that the sides can swing from the top bar, and the stirrup can pivot relative to the stirrup leather.
It would have been one of a pair, possibly for military or ceremonial use? There are some very similar stirrups on display in the Museum of the Army in Madrid Dimensions : 4¼" (11cm) wide x 7" (17.8cm) tall x 6¼" (15.8cm) tread length,
