This long whip has a staghorn handle with a crown-shaped metal "gatepusher" on its top.
There is a silver button stamped "Callow & Son, Park Lane, London" on the heel of the horn.
It has two silver collars, the first has a loop for a wrist strap. The hallmarks on the upper collar are quite rubbed.
The lower collar is clearly hallmarked London 1892. It is also engraved "J.W.A.", this whip came from Hooton Pagnell in Yorkshire, so these initials probably stand for Julia Warde-Aldam, a previous owner of the estate.
Between the collars the grip of the whip is covered in leather with a finely stitched seam.
The rest of the long tapering whalebone shaft is covered in braided thread.
The whip has the remains of its original vellum and silk lash at its end
