This whip is more robust than most sidesaddle whips of the same age.
It has a gold cap and collar, the cap is hallmarked London 1873 and marked "15ct" and ".635".
15 carat gold was only produced and hallmarked between the 1850's and 1930's.
The hallmarks on the collar are too rubbed to read.
The cap is stamped "Swaine & Adeney London".
The grip is covered in chestnut coloured leather with a finely stitched seam.
The rest of the shaft is covered in braided cream coloured thread.
The whip has its original cord lash.
