Vintage Turkoman Buzkashi Whip - Sold
This whip has a solid wooden handle or stock.
This has bands of silver and wire decoration.
There is a metal loop at the top of the whip which holds a narrow leather wrist strap
The handle is bound by rawhide onto a leaf shaped leather tongue.
This connects to a short flexible tail covered in braided rawhide over a leather core.
The end of this thong has decorative braiding and silver wire bands.
Such whips are traditionally carried in Central Asia & used when playing the traditional sport of Buzkashi (which Emma Levine memorably described as "A Game of Polo with a Headless Goat" in the book of the same name )
