This whip has a staghorn handle.
There is a steel crown shaped screw or "gatepusher" on the top of the handle.
It has a slver collar hallmarked Birmingham, the date stamp is too rubbed to read but the shield shapes date it between 1900 & 1939.
It also has the silversmith's stamp "J.C", possibly Joseph Cook.
There are many small dings and scratches on the collar.
The long stock or shaft is made of red brown malacca cane with its distinctive ridged cross section.
It has its original open leather keeper and a thong with a somewhat frayed loop and a lash at its end.
