A rebenque, an Argentinian whip carried by gauchos.
These heavy whips serve both as a whip for horses and cattle and as a club or weapon.
They are worn hung from the gaucho's belt.
In this example the handle of the whip is silver with foliate decoration and a blank heart shaped cartouche.
The top is domed with a few dents.
There is a leather wrist strap threaded through the handle, this has silver coloured beads along its length.
There are also rose gold coloured flowers apllied to the handle.
It has a broad strap-like lash with sewn rawhide decoration.
There are no makers marks or stamps on the whip
