This is a single iron stirrup. It is in excavated condition with a dark pitted but stable surface.
It is triangular in outline and leans to one side. The top bar is curved

In John Clark's "The Medieval Horse and Its Equipment" he refers to a 1940 museum catalogue entry by Ward Perkins describing this form as "typical 14th century asymmetrical form".
The broad tread is flattened .
There are losses to the edge of the tread.

The stirrup has an old collection or museum tag stamped 26
