This whip has a heavy steel handle with a cross-hatched hook and an axe blade on its back. There is a steel gatepusher stud on the top of the handle. It has two slver collars stamped "Callow" and hallmarked London 1905. One collar is engraved "Latimer" and the other, rather enigmatically "C". There are a couple of very small dents in the collars. The grip between the collars is covered in tan leather with a finely stitched seam. The rest of the stock or shaft is covered in braided linen or hemp. It has an open leather keeper or loop at its end and a cream coloured thong with a loop and a cord lash. The terminal loop has been bound in place
