1922 Swaine & Adeney Staghorn Handled Walking Stick or Cane - w1630
This cane has an antler or staghorn handle.
There is a silver button on the heel of the staghorn which is stamped " Swaine & Adeney Ltd, London".
It has two silver collars. The upper one has raised edges and is hallmarked London 1922 and stamped with the silversmith's mark "ESA" and the name "Swaine"
It is also engraved "C.M.E."
The lower collar is plain and hallmarked London 1975. This later date may indicate that this cane was converted from a hunting whip
Between the collars the shaft is covered in very dark brown braided leather.
The rest of the stick is covered in brown leather with a stitched seam, there are several scuffs and scars on the leather. There is a 1cm or half inch gouge near the end of the stick
The cane has a horn ferrule at its end
