This steel bit has a dark aged patina. The mouthpiece is a straight bar and is stamped "British". The cheeks cannot turn, one is stamped "Daniel" and "Trade Mark" with a star. The other is stamped "Daniel". It is a military pattern Ashleigh or elbow bit. Each has three possible slots for the curb rein. The bit has its original curb hooks. The company of Thomas Daniel exported fine quality hand forged horse bits to the United States in the 19th Century.
