This is a brown leather browband. It has two rows of twisted white cord fringing along its length.. The leather is stamped on its reverse "72" and "B.H.G 194.." on one end and "T" with an ordnance arrow on the other end.
It would fasten around the headpiece with brass billet fastenings
It would have been used particularly in hot climates to keep flies out of a horse's eyes Length of fringing 7" (17.8cm), length of browband when open 23½" (60cm)
