A pair of stirrups from the late 19th or early 20th century
They are made of stell and plated with a silver metal (? possibly nickel), the plating is pitted and has flaked away in many places, allowing surface oxidation of the steel. They could be burnished to remove the remaining plating and polish the steel.
The arches are quite fine, with integral suspension loops
The hollow oval treads have a central bar and punched marks to help grip
The stirrups are not stamped or marked.
I understand that this design of stirrup was not military issue but they were used by some yeomanry
Dimensions : Internal Width 4¼" (10.8cm), height 5½" (14cm), depth of tread 2½" (6.5cm)
Weight : 644g (1lb 6½oz)
