This early 20th century military curb bit has a low port.
It is made of steel which is plated in nickel or chrome - there is some wear to the plating on the mouthpiece and the insides of the cheeks.
The cheeks are curved, each bears a rein loop, there is no shackle bar.
The bit has its original curb hooks and chain.
There is a brass badge on each side of the bit. These are cast as a St Andrew's cross over a star with a central silver coloured thistle.
The thistle is surrounded by a circular band bearing the motto: "Nemo Me Impune Lacessit" which is Latin for "No one provokes me with impunity"
There are no maker's marks or stamps
Dimensions : mouthpiece 12cm (4¾"), cheeks 20.5cm (8") not including rein loops
Weight 658g (1 lb 7¼ oz)
