This branch or pad cheek bit is made of steel. The mouthpiece is twisted and the cheeks can turn
Each cheek bears a brass badge or boss. These badges show a queen's crown over a garter with the words "Infantry Mounted Officers". In the middle of the garter there is a rose, a thistle and a shamrock.
One of the cheeks is stamped "Latchford", Benjamin Latchford was the author of the 1885 work "The Loriner"
