An Antique Argentine Gaucho Bit with Pontezuela - Bit1008

This bit probably dates from the early 20th century.

The iron or steel mouthpiece has a dark patina. It has a high port which holds one large and two wire rollers.

The bit has large domed bosses with engraved decoration on each side of the mouthpiece.

The cheeks are curved
There is a curb rein ring on the end of each cheek  .

A flat silver plate or pontezuela hangs under the bit. This is hinged,

It is decorated with a raised oval and some plumes. There are no  maker's marks or stamps

It is Argentine or Uruguayan.
