Antique African Tribal Hide Whip or sjambok with Ivory Snake Handle - for UK sale only - w1707

This whip dates from the late 19th or early 20th Century.

It has an ivory handle carved into a loop with a snake on one side. There are age cracks in the ivory, but no instability. This is an old piece of ivory, so it is legal to sell in the UK, but it would be difficult or impossible to export.

There is a dark horn collar under the handle

The shaft or stock is made of rolled hide - a technique traditionally used in making sjamboks. The shaft is flexible
