Antique African Tribal Hide Whip with Tusk Handle - for UK sale only - w1660
This whip dates from the late 19th or early 20th Century.
It has a curved handle made from a warthog tusk.
The shaft or stock is made of rolled hide - a technique traditionally used in making sjamboks. The shaft is slight flexible but rests in a curved position.
It is antique, so can be legally sold in the UK but could be very difficult to export.
There is a hole in the shaft near the handle - this would have held a loop for hanging or wearing around the wrist. One side of the hole has a bone eyelet around it, this has been lost from the other side.
At the end of the whip there is an old leather keeper or loop - this is broken but could be removed or replaced
