Antique Curved Leather Sandwich Case & Tin by Flashman - Sandwich185
Antique Curved Leather Sandwich Case & Tin by Flashman - Sandwich185
A dark tan leather case, with its sandwich tin.
This case has curved lower corners, the front flap closes with a buckle .
The front is stamped "Flashman, Maker, London" - this probably refers to Frederick Flashman who was a saddler in Dulwich & Brixton in the early 2oth century. The Borough of Lambeth has a fascinating picture of miniature ponies outside his shop around 1911 :
The stitching is incredibly fine (I count fourteen stitches to the inch)
The case is lined in doeskin which shows wear inside the lid.
The curved pewter tin has a single hinge.
It is dented in places.
The saddle straps are in fairly good condition, the case has lost its girth strap.
Dimensions : 5¼" (13.2cm) wide x 3½" (9.2cm) tall x 1½"(4cm) deep
