A rebenque, an Argentinian whip carried by gauchos. These heavy whips serve both as a whip for horses and cattle and as a club or weapon. They are worn hung from the gaucho's belt.
In this example the shaft is covered in silver coloured metal with twisted or fluted decoration at the top. This was a working tool and it has many small dents and scrapes
There is a hole for the attachment of a loop or strap. It has a wide strap-like lash with stitched decoration, this is a bit dry and stiff.
The connection of the leather to the handle is somewhat loose.
