Each of these stirrups was carved from a single piece of wood. They are decorated with leaves, berries and an ear of corn or maize.
Each stirrup has a flattened iron band around its centre which holds a ridged suspension bar. There are old woodworm holes in the wood, but this has been treated and is long dead. These were working tools, one side of one stirrup has an old wooden repair and there are splits and chips to the wood - please look at the images.
