Antique Steel Spring or Butterfly Dray Horse Bit with Rowels - Bit915

A hand forged steel spring or butterfly bit with a russet surface.

This would have clipped onto the rings of another bit to increase its severity.
It has two rowels in each arm of the mouthpiece, these rowels still turn.

There is a central double hinge
