This heavy steel bit has a fantastic patina It has small bit rings. The "cannons" of the jointed mouthpiece are solid steel and much heavier than similar hollow examples The surfaces of the mouthpiece that would touch the tongue have incised grooves. The bit has a central link from which hangs a small plate with two players (one player is missing) This bit is not marked or stamped, it is not easy to estimate its age, possibly early 18th century ?
