This is a stainless steel horse bit, it has quite a dark patina but could be burnished back to a shine. The mouthpiece has a low port. It is stamped "Stainless Steel", "Made in England" and "Eldonian". The cheeks turn. Each cheek has two possible slots for the curb rein - this feature made the bit "Universal Pattern", it was often used by the military.
