c.1920 Elkington & Co Equestrian / Horse Racing / Hunting Cruet Set
This is an early 20th Century piece, probably dating from around 1920.
It sits on a horseshoe shaped base. The toe of the horseshoe is stamped "Elkington & Co" and has Elkington's trademark stamps.
There is a peaked riding hat or jockey's cap at the front which would hold salt.
Behind this there are two removable silver plated boots. One has a pierced screw top - this would have held pepper.
The other boot would hold mustard. It has a hinged lid and a small spoon with a whip shaped handle.
The spoon is not original to the set, It is solid silver and hallmarked London 1865.
At the back of the stand there is a handle in the form of a spur sitting on a strap.
There is a stud in front of the spur which would have held a toothpick holder
