Medicine / Drenching Bit - Bit802
Medicine / Drenching Bit - Bit802
This bit is made for administering medicines to horses ( or possibly other animals).
It has a hollow mouthpiece with four holes along one side.
One end unscrews so that it can be filled with a paste. A plunger passes through the cap of this open end.
The bit has a thin loop at each end - presumably to attach to a headstall. There are also short bars - possibly to stop it being pulled through the mouth ?
It is very well made in stainless steel but there are no maker's stamps or marks
I have not been able to find this bit design in any texts but there are a couple of expired US patents that look similar, it may have been a prototype
