The spurs are silver plated. They have steel inserts which would fit into "boxes" in the heel of the boot. The arms and straight necks of the spurs have cast decoration in the form of roses, thistles and shamrocks. The rowels are similarly decorated, the edge of one rowel has worn smooth .
Each neck is stamped "Maxwell" (a famous London boot & spurmaker). The steel parts of the spurs are also stamped with Maxwell's early 20th century address , 8, Dover Street London.
