This is a nickel stirrup with an integral oval suspension loop at its top.
There is an inner arch with doeskin covered padding at its top.
In the event of a fall, the arch can swings forward, releasing the tread or footplate on the outside and freeing the rider's foot
The underside of the iron is stamped "B.Cope's" , "Patent" and "No....940" on the front and "E.O.&Co" and "Best NeverRust" on the back
It has its original leather with its hook to adjust the length
There is a steel safety fitting at the top of the leather, this is stamped "M R" and "Robson & Cooper" . The plating of the steel is flaking and missing in places.
