This small, heavy South American stirrup is made of bronze with a dark patina.
It probably dates from the late 19th or early 20th Century. It has a separate suspension loop at its top and a solid bronze piece with rounded corners under its tread.
Although small it was probably used by an adult, there was a tradition in some regions of using small stirrups that only supported the toe. It has many small dinks and scratches from use.
