The handle of this whip is shaped like a branch of holly It is made of silver but has been gilded. It is stamped "Swaine & Adeney, London". The hallmarks are too rubbed to read but the shapes of the stamps match those of the Edwardian period (1901-1910). The slightly flexible shaft or stock is covered in mahogany coloured braided leather. It ends in a small stitched keeper. I suspect this whip handle may have started life on a driving whip
