This is a first edition hardback book with a rather tatty dustjacket.
It was published by the Batchworth Press, London in 1948 It covers the development of the carriage from ancient civilisations to the 19th century. It has a coloured frontispiece and thirty black and white illustrations and photographs.

The text is in good condition, the cloth covered boards are scuffed and faded in places and the dustjacket is tatty
