Vintage African Hide Whip or Sjambok or Litupa - w1698

This whip is made from rolled hide - possibly hippo
Such whips were used for herding livestock as well as self defence

There is a leather wrist strap below the top.

It would have tapered along its length, but the last third of it has been snapped off.

There is a small (1cm) notch or scar at the the top
